Bereavement and Loss

The word bereavement means "to be robbed of something valued". Grieving is a process of adjusting to that loss and is universal. Although most often applied when the loss involves a death it can be applied to many other situations. People may pass through a number of stages in grief and may include feelings of denial, fear, loneliness, anger and sadness. It is a painful process which allows us to come to terms with the loss. These stages can vary in sequence and length for each individual.

Grief reactions can have physical, emotional, sexual and spiritual components. Each bereaved person is unique and will deal with a significant death or loss in their own way. At ProTherapy we can help you to:-
