Panic Attacks
A panic attack occurs when the body experiences a rush of intense psychological and physical symptoms. An attack may be accompanied by an overwhelming sense of fear, apprehension and anxiety as well as physical symptoms of nausea, sweating, trembling and palpitations. Panic attacks can be very frightening and intense, but they are not dangerous and will not cause any physical harm. At least one person in ten experiences occasional panic attacks which are usually triggered by a stressful event.
